I love adventures and I love to books. I love to read books and I love to have books read to me. I also have a favorite stuffy. Her name is Nick. She tells tales and has a tail. And that's why my business is called Nick Tales Adventures and Books!
While I was on an adventure on the East Coast - Mom thinks it was in 2016 when I was three (apparently I liked to tell stories (and still do) from my car seat as we were driving to a national historical site, I came up with the name. I'm told that I just flat out said my business is going to be called Nick Tales Books Club by Maddie Love. Mom said okay. And since I tell stories all the time, Mom said we should write these stories down because they would be great books!
So in 2017, Mom and I sat down and I told Mom the story I wanted her to write down for my first official book. I decided I'd call it Nick Tales Enlightened Ocean Adventures. We folded plain white paper to make a book and wrote down the story and drew the pictures for it too. I was so proud of my story, I asked Mom to read the story to my pre-school classes. I was so excited that my classmates loved the story!
I kept asking my Mom if we could start a business. So in early 2018, she said we could do a kidpreneur camp to help me learn more about what it means to run a business. We even bought several books on what it means to be a kidpreneur (I'll be reviewing/recommending those at some point!). And for occupation day at school, we shared these books with my class and we even highlighted the kid founder of
Zollipops.
Mom said if I still wanted to start my business after that week-long camp, we could. I did, so we started Nick Tales Book Club in March 2018. One of Mom's friends suggested we start doing YouTube videos for YouTube Kids. We did that too but YouTube Kids doesn't include independent videos any more, so now our videos are on regular YouTube and on InstagramTV.
When we went on our National Parks RV trip, we changed the business name to Nick Tales Adventures and Books because I love adventures too!
I have special Nick Tales bookmarks that I share with classes and kids. If you'd like me to send you them for free, just fill out the contact us and let me know how many you need. They even have rounded corners so they are safe for little kids!
Thanks for wanting to get to know more about me and Nick Tales. Hope you'll check out my book recommendations and videos! Bye!!
Maddie
Update: Well, when we all had to leave school because of COVID-19 and use computers to go to class, spending my fun time on computers was no longer fun for me. I really missed being with my friends and learning from my teachers in person. So I told my Mom I wanted to stop doing book reviews for a while, and she said "no problem!"
I still LOVE to read. I still share book reviews with my friends and tell them about books I love, and they tell me about books they love. I have a few books in progress - I'm just so busy - I haven't yet finished them. Nowadays, I post online once in a while on Instagram and Facebook. Usually about fun adventures or my entrepreneurship efforts.
As for entrepreneurship, I've graduated from my lemonade stand. Now I run a business I call Eco-Succulents. I recycle milk jugs and I hire my friends to help me paint them. I cut my friends' succulents and as well as grow my own, which reduces the carbon footprint of transporting succulents. I set my stand up and take donations. People can donate to the ASPCA, the Los Gatos Library, or to my fun account. I've earned over $2,000 with this for my fun account and I've donated over $500.
I also love selling Girl Scout Cookies and working with my besties on several other business ideas.
